April Pereira, Roll 20: D&D and the Power of Community Storytelling
April Pereira

April Pereira (ile/they/she) is the Founding Director of StorySpark Collective, a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening communities through the power of storytelling.

A lifelong storyteller, community builder, and nonprofit leader, April believes that stories do more than entertain—they preserve culture, foster belonging, inspire action, and help communities imagine new possibilities for the future. Their work is rooted in the belief that the people closest to a challenge are also closest to its solutions, and that meaningful change begins by listening to and learning from lived experience.

With degrees in Geography and Community and Regional Planning from Keene State College and University of Oregon, April brings a systems-thinking perspective to community engagement and social impact work. Throughout their career, they have worked at the intersection of storytelling, education, culture, and community development, creating programs and partnerships that elevate voices, strengthen relationships, and build more connected communities.

Through StorySpark Collective, April works to create spaces where stories become catalysts for understanding, leadership, and collective action—ensuring that community knowledge is not only preserved, but shared, celebrated, and transformed into meaningful change.
